Women’s Student Coaching Academy 2024-25

Student Sport Ireland (SSI) is pleased to announce that the application process for the 2024-25 Women’s Student Coaching Academy is now open for new entrants.

Heading into its 4th year, the aim of the academy is to provide female student coaches with the support system that will enable them to develop and reach their coaching potential. Furthermore, the academy aims to increase the number, and visibility, of female coaches in third level institutions and create female role models for other female students to progress into coaching.

The Women’s Student Coaching Academy is a collaborative programme between SSI, Sport Ireland, 22 third-level institutions and 17 sporting National Governing Bodies (NGBs).

Throughout the year, the female student coaches will coach a team or athletes, while working alongside a mentor coach. They will also undertake a coaching course with their NGB, keep a weekly journal to track their coaching journey, and attend workshops offered by SSI.

Thank you to Archery Ireland, Athletics Ireland, Badminton Ireland, Basketball Ireland, the Camogie Association, Cricket Ireland, the Football Association of Ireland, GAA Handball Ireland, Hockey Ireland, the Irish Athletic Boxing Association, the Irish Rugby Football Union, Irish Squash, the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, Rowing Ireland, Triathlon Ireland, Volleyball Ireland, and Weightlifting Ireland for their support to develop our female student coaches.

Students interested in taking part are asked to complete the Application Form and return to their sports officer listed on the back of the form before August 7th 2024.
