Fiona Doyle Wins Silver At World University Games.

Fiona Doyle, Limerick and the University of Calgary, turned in a storming finish to secure a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke at the World University Games.

Doyle, who qualified as fourth fastest qualifier for the final, was third at the turn but powered home to cheers of ‘Ole, Ole’ from her Team Ireland teammatesto secure second place in a time of 1:07.66, a new Irish Senior Record for the event.

Fiona  joins a list of Irish super star athletes who have medalled at the University Games including Sonia O’Sullivan, Gary O’Toole, Niall Bruton, Derval O’Rourke, Ailis McSweeney and Paul Hession.
