Dublin City University made it two in a row Student Sport Ireland Sports College of the Year Awards after another successful year on the pitches and courts of third level sport.

In the first year of this competition only Student Sport Ireland competitions counted towards the league table, however in 2019-20 several governing bodies came on board to broaden the sports included. These included Basketball, HEC GAA hurling and football competitions, Third Level Football with the FAI, HEC Ladies Gaelic Football competitions, with the continued co-organising of third level rugby competitions with the Irish Rugby Football Union.

Dublin City University excelled in the team sports winning several titles including the Sigerson Cup, Collingwood Cup, Women’s Division 1 Basketball and football, Division 1 hurling, along with these DCU were in semi-finals and finals of other competitions that were shared due to the shut down of college sport in mid-March.

The SSI Sports College of the year has points awarded across approximately 100 leagues and cups in 15 different sports. This is DCU’s second year in a row winning the competition.
