It is with profound sadness that we learnt this evening of the passing of our great friend and colleague Brian Mullins.
A senior member of Student Sport Ireland and its predecessor CUSAI, Brian for over two decades was a passionate advocate for student sport and physical activity.
A co-founder of the organisation in 2005, Brian served as a Board Director for 13 years, held the role of Honorary Secretary for six years, and twice chaired the working groups that led the strategic development of our organisation. In 2016, Brian proudly led a team of academic researchers and sports staff that published a seminal study that to this day informs student sport and physical activity policy and programmes.
Words cannot do justice to Brian’s influence and immense contribution to CUSAI, Student Sport Ireland, and the wider third level sports sector not only in Ireland but also in Europe through his membership of ENAS, the European Network of Academic Sports Services.
At Student Sport Ireland, we have lost a great and kind leader, our mentor, our guiding beacon who will be very sadly and deeply missed.
On behalf of our members and staff we offer our deepest condolences to Brian’s family and his partner Liz, and all his friends and colleagues.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
