UCD Agricultural Science student Mike Healy finished a very impressive 14th overall in the Men’s Final at the 1st ever World University Modern Pentathlon Championships in Budapest, Hungary on Wednesday.
Going into the competition Mike Healy was ranked 15th in the field of 28 athletes and he finished one place above his ranking in a very strong field.
The strongest element of Mike’s competition was the laser run where his time of 11.44.76 was the 12th best of the competition, just 37 seconds off the time of the eventual winner Brice Loubet from France.
Mike was ranked 16th overall in the swim leg which was the opening part of the competition with a time of 2.05.39, while he was ranked 18th overall in the fencing leg with 13 victories and 14 defeats. Mike will be in action again on Saturday when he joins forces with Eilidh Prise from the University of bath for the Mixed Relay Event.
