Networking Event


Student Sport Ireland is pleased to present Network 2019, hosted by Waterford IT at Faithlegg House Hotel in Waterford from the 22nd to 24th May.

The event, now in its 11th year, is an opportunity for third level sports staff, students (current and past) and national governing bodies of sport to come together over three days to share best practices, exchange ideas and to hear from a number of guest speakers.

Network 2019 will feature presentations and discussion on various topics including Women In Sport, Dual Careers, Inter varsity Competitions, and the annual presentations for the Student Sport Ireland Event of the Year and Leadership Awards.  Network 2019 will also include team building activities and opportunities to network with sporting staff from all third level institutes and universities in Ireland.

Speakers at Network 2019 will include:

SSI Sports Clubs and Competitions Chairperson David Flynn (Ulster University), SSI Research Committee member, David McHugh (Athlone IT PHD Student). Dr. Niamh Murphy (Waterford IT), Phil Healy (International Athlete and Waterford IT student)  will speak on Changing the Culture in Irish Sport – Bridging the Gender Gap, Emma Saunders (Sport Ireland Institute) will speak on Dual Careers for students. Dermot Keyes will lead a panel discussion on Women In Sport after dinner with the panel including Phil Healy, Kate Kelly (9-time All Star Camogie Player for Wexford) and Niamh Briggs ( Two time Six Nations Rugby Winner for Ireland).
