Networking Event


Student Sport Ireland is pleased to present Network 2018, hosted by Athlone IT at the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone from the 23rd to 25th May.

The event, now in its tenth year, is an opportunity for third level sports staff, students (current and past) and national governing bodies of sport to come together over three days to share best practices, exchange ideas and to hear from a number of guest speakers.

Network 2018 will feature presentations and discussion on various topics including Gambling and it’s effect on Mental Health, Implementing the Strategic Plan in your College and Presentations by various committees of SSI.  Network 2018 will also include team building activities and opportunities to network with sporting staff from all third level institutes and universities in Ireland.

Speakers at Network 2018 will include:

SSI Committee chairpersons, Dr Maura Coulter (Research), Mr. Ronan Keaskin (Sports Club and Competitions), and Kathy Hynes (Physical Activity, Health and Well Being). Declan Lynch (Sunday Independent) and Niall McNamee (Former Offaly Intercounty Footballer) will speak on the issues of Gambling and Mental Health. John Kerrane will lead the conversation on the Implementation of the Strategic Plan, with former Galway Mayo IT student Ronan O’Neill and Athlone IT PHD Student David McHugh addressing the gathering.
