June 12, 2019  |  News  |  Share

This position is directly related to the continued growth and development of Trinity Rowing which has a heritage dating back over 180 years, and is currently one of the four focus sports within the University. The Rowing Performance Development Officer will play a key role in the enhancement of athlete recruitment, conditioning, and training, sports science and program support, and event planning.

Further Information

Trinity Rowing has long and successful history, with both Dublin University Boat Club (DUBC), and Dublin University Ladies Boat Club (DULBC) respected and recognised internationally. The 2015-2018 strategy for sport established the foundations of a student sport pathway, with participation, education, and performance sport structures being implemented. Rowing, as one of four focus sports continues to grow under this model, with a collective plan in place and an emerging staff infrastructure.

This position is key and will further establish a foundation for attracting and supporting top-level student rowers in the future. Working directly with the lead coaches and officers from both clubs, this position will report directly to the Student Sport Pathway Manager (within the Sports Development Unit) and deliver on predefined key performance indicators (KPI’s) and goals. The main emphasis of the role will be to provide athlete training and support to both men’s and women’s programmes, delivering and overseeing regular ‘off-water’ strength, fitness, and technical sessions in-line with coaching plans. The post holder will also be heavily involved in athlete recruitment, community engagement, and club development and education.

Informal enquiries about this post should be made to the Deputy Head of Sport and Recreation Matthew Dossett
