Thomas Barr Celebrates Victory at in the 400mH at the World University Games (Cathal Noonan Inpho)

What an absolutely brilliant Day 7 for Team Ireland at the World University Games:

  • Thomas Barr (UL) took gold in the 400m hurdles in a time of 48.78
  • Fiona Doyle (Calgary) took silver in the 50m Breaststroke in 31.09
  • Ciara Everard (UCD) was placed 6th in the 800m final
  • John Travers (AIT) finished 9th in the 1500m final
  • Kevin Batt (Adams State) qualified for Sunday evening’s 5000m Final
  • The Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams are currently placed 5th and 12th respectively going into their final round of competition
  • The Women’s Football team beat Colombia 8-0 in Game 5

The schedule for tomorrow Day 8, Saturday 11th is as follows (all Irish times)

  • Chris Bryan (UL) swims in the 10k open water (12 midnight)
  • The golf teams compete in their fourth and final round of competition (1am)
  • Adam McMullan (UU) competes in the Long Jump Qualifying Round (3am)
  • The Men’s Football team play France in their 5th – 8th playoff
