2015 Network Event A Great Success

The 7th annual Student Sport Ireland Networking Event was held held at the Heritage Golf and Spa Resort, Killenard, Co Laois on 21 – 22 May 2015.

The event is an opportunity for third level sports staff (current and past), students, national governing bodies of sport and local sport partnership staff, and expert guest speakers to meet, share best practices and exchange ideas.

Network 2015 featured presentations and discussions on the Health Matters Initiative, promoting scholarship athletes and students that use your facilites, how to make best use of your facilities and also recreational programmes being run by Hockey Ireland and the IRFU to increase participation.

Guest speakers at Network 2015 included Dr Michael Byrne of University College Cork, Greg O’Donoghue of Union of Students in Ireland,  Niall Sturrock of University of Strathclyde, Caroline Duggan and Jack Kavanagh of Trinity College Dublin, Fiona Mills of Hockey Ireland, David Keane of the IRFU and Margo de Lange of ENAS.

Following the presentations the IRFU provided an opportunity for all delegates to take part in a Touch Rugby demonstration session which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
