SSI Student Activity and Sport Study Ireland (SASSI) Research Project Update

January 7, 2015  |  News, Research  |  Share

The SASSI survey of students concluded in early December. This is the second phase of the SSI research project and follows on from the audit of provision for sport and physical activity across third-level colleges (Self-Assessment Review), carried out in mid-2014. The final phase, the collection of health and wellness physical measures from a sample of students will be completed in March 2015. The Research Team will complete reports on all three studies in July.

As a result of the huge effort of a large number of people, in particular the SSI ‘Champions’ in each of the participating colleges, the response to the survey has been very satisfactory. Thirty-one colleges took part, with an average response rate across the colleges of approximately 80 percent of the target number of students. A range of different sizes and types of institutions are included with a wide geographical spread across the island. This should provide the research team with excellent data on which to base their analysis.
