SSI Vice-Chairperson Appointed on EUSA Student Commission

SSI Vice Chairperson, Conor Traynor, has been appointed to the EUSA Student Commission. This is a two year voluntary role and Conor will join other committee members representing Portugal, Poland, Switzerland, Armenia, Germany, Croatia, Russia and Great Britain.

The role of the Student Commission is to make sure the students’ interests are protected. The Student Commission serves as a link between students and the European University Sports Association (EUSA). The Chair of the Student Commission attends the EUSA Executive Committee meetings and the Student Commission makes recommendations to the Executive Committee. The Student Commissions’ principles include equity between genders and generations, open decision-making processes, fair play, zero tolerance in the use of doping and genuine spirit of sportsmanship.

Conor is currently pursing a Masters in Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering at Trinity College Dublin and was previously the Vice-Chairman of DUCAC. As well as his role as an SSI Board Member, Conor also sits on the SSI Domestic Competitions Committee.

On receiving the news of his appointment Conor expressed “University sport and the people that I have had the opportunity to meet and work with along the way have inspired me to get more and more involved. I have a real passion for the administrative structures of university sport and I am motivated by trying to make student sport better for students, despite the challenges that involves.  I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to be a member of the EUSA Student Commission with a view to increasing the involvement of Ireland in EUSA organised events”
